DIF's growing membership includes many of the leading companies in the delivery of digital TV in Europe: BSkyB,CANAL+, Deutsche Telekom, Irdeto, Liberty Global, Microsoft, Nagravision, NDS, Pace Micro Technology, Sky Deutschland, Sky Italia, Viaccess-Orca and ZetaCast.
Members of DIF have driven the advance of digital content distribution in Europe through sustained innovation and the collective investment of billions of euro. Through standards bodies they have participated in the setting of technical standards and have made content anytime, anywhere a technological reality through a combination of satellite, cable, terrestrial and IPTV platforms, as well as tablets, games consoles, and smartphones.
As a result of their innovation and investments, tens of millions of households in EU Member States can access an unprecedented choice of digital content and innovative services, offering entertainment, information and e-commerce through multiple devices.. Digital users can select in-depth coverage of news and sports through multiple video screens, including second screens, or experience channel interactivity through voting and enhanced information. Entertainment, information and interaction is never far away.
DIF meets 3 to 4 times a year. This is supplemented by regular e-mails and conference calls. Its Chair and Vice-Chair are elected annuallly from its members. Currently these positions are held by Jim Beveridge (Microsoft) and Bertrand Wendling (Nagravision) respectively. Sheila Cassells is Executive Director.
